The Legend of Two Toe Joe

Some people called Two Toe Joe slow. Well, Two Toe Joe wasn't really slow; he just had no reason to hurry. Two Toe Joe also wasn't tired, he was retired, and a fisherman and that should explain that. The other part of the story is Joe's name. Two Toe Joe doesn't have just two toes; he's missing two, one on each foot. This happened when people didn't think Two Toe Joe was slow . Back then no one thought Joe would ever slow down. He was always in a rush. It was like he'd had his third cup of coffee and at age ten that can be quite a rush of its own. Joe was in a rush because at ten he couldn't be retired but he was as he is today a fisherman and a good one too. Today he catches more fish than fish catch him. However the day he lost his toes is what we are here to discuss. Joe had been in a rush all day getting his chores done so he could get to the lake and get to fishing . At about 2 pm on a hot July day he arrived at Tachick Lake and settled himself on the dock. His special spot on the dock was worn as smooth as the seat of his pants from sitting there. Because of the heat of the day and from being in such a rush Joe fell asleep on that dock. It wasn't long until one of the trout spied Joe's well baited hook. It did take a good long look at Joe's toes wiggling in the water but decided on the juicy dew worm instead. That trout was just about as shocked to find itself hooked as Joe was soon to be. As it flipped twice out of the lake it threw the hook, caught the worm and got away but not before the line had looped around each of Joe's two little toes and when the line grew tight snipped them off as clean as a scalpel would. Well that's how Two Toe Joe got his name. Some say you still see a large trout swim past that dock at about 2 pm on hot July days with a big grin on its face, possibly looking for those toes of Joe's.
